iMessages guide June 03 2016, 0 Comments
iMessages is the ultimate messaging app for iOS devices, allowing you to send messages to individual contacts and even groups. It works to send text, audio and even video files, and there are several things you need to know about it:
Difference between iMessages and SMS/MMS
iMessages can be sent and received between two Apple devices including iPhones, iPods, iPads and even Macs as long as there is an internet connection. However, you can’t send iMessages to other devices, and to send messages, you would need to send an SMS or MMS. Both of these are available on the same interface, and it can be difficult to tell the two apart, unless you know what you’re looking for. iMessages sent are wrapped in a blue bubble while SMS are wrapped in a green bubble.
Share your location
If you want to inform your friends about where you are, you can do it right from iMessages.
- Open the conversation between you and the contact you want to share your location with
- At the top-right corner of the screen should be a ‘Details’ button
- Tap on ‘Share my location’
- You can also select the duration over which you would like to do so
The recipient will be able to view your location and even get directions there.
Sending photos and videos
Once you’re in the conversation window, there should be a camera icon left of the text field. Selecting it would lead you to your photos or prompt you to take a new picture with your camera. A preview of the picture will be available so you can decide if you’re comfortable with it or perform a retake of the picture. Just hit send if you’re comfortable with it and you’re done.
